Noaber Residential Care Building

Together with JCR Architecten, we worked on a study for an urban living environment where community life is an important part of the concept. The project comprises 54 residential apartments for a diverse target group: residents with and without a care need, with care on demand as a natural part of everyday life. The foundation of the concept is noaberschap, which means looking out for one another, and genuine involvement with your neighbors.

The architecture is designed to encourage interaction. Wide, open galleries invite spontaneous conversations and offer space for a small seating area next to the front door. Along the circulation routes, various shared facilities are positioned, including a living room with a café, a green courtyard garden above the parking level, and a sunny terrace between the building volumes. These are places where residents meet and where the sense of community becomes visible and tangible.

Located at a dynamic urban intersection and connected to the surrounding residential neighbourhood, Noaber forms a distinctive urban landmark. The subdivision of the building volume and the corner tower create a clear identity, while natural and biobased materials such as brick and timber reinforce both the sustainable and social ambitions of the project.

Noaber demonstrates how living, care, and community can come together in a contemporary way.
