Interior design – Studio Jet Tillmann – 2025 completed
Design of a lunch cafe where people can eat, connect and relax, surrounded by plants.
As VanWonen continued to grow, their lunch area no longer met their needs. We transformed it into a multifunctional space with the intimacy of a cafe. The flexible layout offers place for lunches, client meetings, presentations and events. To optimize circulation, we separated the coffee bar from the buffet bar, resulting in a natural and intuitive flow through the space.
The design connects people with nature. The lush indoor jungle is subtly reflected in the metal kitchen wall and visually extends into the new outdoor garden. The garden’s 100% native, pesticide-free plants enhance biodiversity. The new space reflects VanWonen’s mission to create environments for the healthiest generations.
We used recycled and natural materials like an acoustic ceiling of recycled cellulose, rugs from recycled PET bottles, locally crafted European oak elements, and we preserved the existing floor.
The atmosphere of the space is soft with natural warm colors, contrasted by fresh green plants, a bold purple beam, hand crafted rounded tiles and metal.
We were involved from the first sketch to project management and construction supervision, with the build completed in just three weeks.
